Xiangqi Master

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 8 September 2026

This policy describes how the mobile application Xiangqi Master (the “App”), published by Dawikk (“we”), handles data. It covers the Android and iOS builds distributed under the identifier com.dawikk.xiangqi.

In short

There is no account and no server of ours. Your games, ratings, puzzle progress, streak and settings are written to storage on your own device and stay there. We run no analytics and no crash reporting, and we cannot see how you play.

The App is free and shows ads. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which does collect data from your device according to your consent choices — that is the one part of the App where information leaves the phone.

1. What the App stores, and where

Everything below is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or shared with anyone.

What Where and why
Your games A local SQLite database on the device, so the history screen and the post-game review can replay them.
Puzzle progress and hint use The same local database — which puzzles you solved and how.
Your two ratings and your streak Local key–value storage on the device.
Settings Local key–value storage: language, piece style, notation, sound, haptics, engine strength, reminder time.
Your consent choices Recorded by the Google UMP consent SDK on the device, so you are not asked again on every launch.
The engine file The chess engine ships inside the App and is unpacked into the App's own cache directory at first launch. It is a program file, not your data.

We do not ask for your name, e-mail address, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location, and the App has no field in which to type any of them.

2. What we do NOT do

3. Ads, and the choice you are given

The App is free and is supported by advertising through Google AdMob. There is one anchored banner and one interstitial shown between games; neither ever covers a position on the board.

To serve an ad, the AdMob SDK sends information from your device to Google — typically an advertising identifier, IP address, device model, operating system version, coarse region and information about the ad itself (that it was requested, shown or tapped). What is collected depends on the choice you make:

Google acts as an independent controller for the data it collects this way. Its practices are described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the AdMob privacy information.

4. Third-party services

Service What it is for and what it sees
Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) Serves the banner and the interstitial. Receives device and ad-request data as described in section 3, subject to your consent choices. Privacy information
Google Play services / App Store Distribution, installation and updates of the App itself, plus aggregate, anonymous install and crash statistics that the stores produce for every app. We see only store-level aggregates, never an individual. Google · Apple
Expo (Expo, Inc.) — over-the-air updates The App may check Expo's update server for a corrected JavaScript bundle. Such a request carries the technical data any HTTPS request carries — IP address, App version, platform and runtime version. No game data is sent. Expo privacy policy

There is no other SDK in the App. In particular there is no billing or subscription SDK, no social login, and no third-party analytics.

5. Permissions and why they are asked for

Permission Why
Internet access Only to fetch ads and, occasionally, an App update. The game itself — engine, puzzles, lessons and review — runs offline.
Advertising ID (Android: AD_ID) Used by AdMob for ad delivery and frequency capping, within your consent choices. You can reset or delete it in the device settings.
Notifications Only for the single daily reminder you ask for. It is scheduled on the device; there is no push server and we send nothing. Off until you turn it on, and removable at any time.
App Tracking Transparency (iOS) The system prompt described in section 3. Declining costs you nothing in the game.

6. Children

The App is a board game with no chat, no user-generated content, no social features and no way for one player to reach another. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Because the App shows ads, we ask the ad network to treat requests in line with the store's family policies and with your consent choices. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through the App, write to us at dawikk.apps@gmail.com and we will act — noting that, as described above, we hold no such data ourselves.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because all of your data lives on your device, you control it entirely:

Device backups

If your phone backs itself up (Android Auto Backup, iCloud), that backup may include the App's local data. Those backups belong to Google or Apple and to you, not to us, and are governed by their policies.

8. Security

Data stored by the App is protected by the operating system's own application sandbox, which keeps other apps out. Network requests made by the ad and update SDKs use HTTPS. No system is perfect — but the honest reassurance here is that there is very little to protect: the App holds no identity, no credentials and no personal information about you.

9. Your rights (GDPR and similar laws)

Where the GDPR applies, we are the controller for the App, and our lawful basis for the local processing described in section 1 is the performance of the game you asked for. Ads are served on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time via Settings → Ad privacy choices.

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. In practice, for the App itself, all of them are satisfied by the device in your hand: the data is on it, visible in the App, and deleted with the App. For data Google collects through AdMob, please use Google's own controls or contact Google, which is the controller for that processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated — for example if a service is added to or removed from the App. The new version is published on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after a change means acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Your consent

By using the App you agree to the handling of information described here.
